Secure Shell, commonly known as SSH, is a cryptographic network protocol employed to execute commands on a remote server or to exchange info between a web server and a client. As the information exchanged by the two sides is protected, a third party can't intercept it, which makes SSH an ideal means of controlling a web hosting account. The commands that can be executed are determined by the type of hosting service. On a shared web server, for example, the options are limited because you simply won't have root access to the server, so you can only create/move/delete files, set up and unpack archives, export and import databases, etc. These are all actions that are executed inside the shared hosting account and do not require a higher level of access. With a virtual or a dedicated server, you shall have the option to install server-side software or to restart the server or only a certain service (web server, database server, etc.). SSH commands are submitted via a command line, and if you don't use a UNIX-like OS, there are a variety of apps for other OSs, that you can use to connect to the remote server as well.

SSH Telnet in Cloud Hosting

SSH access is provided with all cloud plans we provide. With some of them, it is included as standard, while with others it is an additional upgrade that you can include with a few mouse clicks in your web hosting CP. You can obtain SSH access from the section dedicated to it in which you can also find the details which you need to connect - the host, the port number and the username. You could select the password which you'll use and, if necessary, you will be able to modify it with a couple of clicks from the same location. All the commands which could be used with our shared packages are listed inside a help article along with relevant examples. If the SSH access feature is permitted for your account, you will also be able to upload files using your preferred FTP client via an SFTP connection.

SSH Telnet in Semi-dedicated Servers

You shall be able to connect to your semi-dedicated server account using SSH irrespective of which plan you select when you sign up. With some packages, the function is offered by default, and with others, it could be added as an optional upgrade for as long as you need it. You will find the necessary login information within the Hepsia Control Panel, included with all accounts - the host/server name, the port number and the login name. You can choose the password which you'll use and if you would like, you can change it constantly with a couple of clicks for even higher security. You will be able to see all the commands you can use in advance, as we've listed all of them together with examples of how they are used in order to perform a certain task. As soon as SSH access to your semi-dedicated server account is allowed, you'll be able to use an FTP program and establish an SFTP connection.

SSH Telnet in VPS Servers

All our VPS server solutions provide SSH access by default, so you won't need to add any upgrades or enable anything - the second the server is set up and you receive its login details, you'll be able to connect through its primary IP address and the login credentials which you have picked throughout the signup process. As the VPS accounts feature full root-level access, there aren't any restrictions in terms of the commands which you may run. Your server shall be isolated from the other ones on the physical machine, so you shall be able to manage virtually everything through a command line, including server-side software installations and reboots. Thus, you are able to work with your files, databases and any apps that you install in a fast and risk-free way.
