ID Protection, at times also called Privacy or WHOIS Protection, is a service that conceals the authentic contact information of domain registrants on WHOIS check websites. Without this service, the personal name, home address and email of any domain registrant will be freely available. Providing false info during the domain name registration procedure or changing the real details later will just not work, as doing such a thing may result in the domain name registrant losing his/her domain name ownership rights. The policies approved by ICANN, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, require that the WHOIS details must be valid and accurate at all times. The ID Protection service was introduced by domain registrars as an answer to the increasing concerns for possible identity fraud. If the service is activated, the domain registrar’s contact info will be shown instead of the registrant’s upon a WHOIS lookup. Most domain names support the ID Protection service, even though there are certain country-code extensions that don’t.

ID Protection in Cloud Hosting

If you order a cloud hosting package from us, you’ll be able to activate ID Protection for any of your domain names provided that their extensions support this option. You can register or transfer a domain name and add ID Protection during the registration process or you can activate the service for any of your domain names at any moment later via the Hepsia Control Panel. The process is very easy – after you sign in, you will need to visit the Registered Domains section where you’ll find a list of all the domains that you’ve registered through us. For each of them you’ll see an “ID Protect” button, which will let you know whether the service is enabled or not. By clicking it, you can either ID-protect the domain name, or you can turn off the service if it is currently activated.

ID Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you choose to order a semi-dedicated server package from us, you’ll be able to add ID Protection to any of your domains by taking several simple steps. If you register or transfer a domain during the account order procedure, you can get the service along with the domain name. If you omit this step and you think things over at a later point in time, you can add the ID Protection service from the Registered Domains section of the Hepsia hosting Control Panel, through which you can administer the entire semi-dedicated account. This is also the place where you can turn on the ID Protection for all other domains that you register through our company after the signup process. Renewing or disabling the service is just as simple and will require no more than several clicks.
